Maple Pear Tart

A recipe from our Canadian friend who bakes like a dream.
50 g 11/2 oz vegan margarine
120 ml 4 fl oz maple syrup
2 pears, sliced
400g 14 oz block of vegan puff pastry
Preheat the oven to 180 C, 350 F, Gas Mark 4.
Place the margarine in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat until it melts. Add the maple syrup. Arrange the pears in the bottom of the pan and cook for 5-6 minutes until soft. Remove from the heat.
Roll out the pastry on a lightly floured surface to 5 mm 1/4 ins thick. Cut a circle to fit inside the pan over the pears.
Put the pan in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden.
Allow to stand for 2 minutes. Then place the serving plate over the pan. Cover your arms and hands with a thick tea towel. This is very hot so you need the protection. Turn the pan over to allow the tart to drop on to the plate.
Serves 4 people. Serve hot.
