Date Flapjacks

This recipe makes 15 squares.
4 ozs 125 gms dates
2 ozs 50 gms syrup
1/2 ozs 15 gms malt
4 ozs 125 gms rolled oats
1 ozs 25 gms vegan margarine
Cover the dates with water and boil them in a pan until they become a paste.
Heat oven to 375F, 190C, Gas Mark 5.
Heat the syrup, malt and oil together. Take off the heat and add the oats. Oil a Swiss roll tin. Place half the mixture in the bottom and press flat. Spread the date paste over the mixture. Put the other half of the mixture on the top and press flat.
Bake for 35 minutes until golden.
DO NOT CUT or take out of the tin until cool.
Will keep for a week in an airtight tin.
