Johnbull Biscuits

My sister-in-law Sue, baked these biscuits and gave me the recipe when she lived in Malawi.
4 ozs 125 gms Granose, vegan margarine
2 Dsp golden syrup
8 ozs 225 gms flour
6 0zs 175 gms sugar
8 ozs 225 gms rolled oats
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
1/4 pt 150 mls boiling water
Pour the boiling water onto the bicarbonate of soda. Melt the margarine and syrup together. Mix all the ingredients together. Form into small balls the size of a walnut. Makes about 24 biscuits.
Pre-heat the oven to 180C, 350 F, Gas Mark 4. Place the balls on a baking sheet, leaving room for them to spread as they cook. Cook for 20 minutes, until golden.
Allow to cool on a wire tray.
Will keep in an airtight tin.
