Peas Cooked with Lettuce

VEGETABLE DISH
A recipe from Jenny in America. Different and giving two textures.
Ingredients
450g 1 lb peas
1 Large green lettuce
Method
Wash the lettuce head whole and shake dry. Place the peas within the folds of the lettuce leaves and tie the head up. Steam until the peas are tender, about 15 minutes.
Remove tie and serve whole in a shallow round dish. It looks attractive.
Alternately, place a layer of lettuce followed by a layer of peas ending with a layer of lettuce in a colander over boiling water and steam for 15 minutes until peas are tender.
Place a round serving dish over the colander, tip upside down to release the lettuce and peas onto the dish.
Serves 4 people. Serve with a main course.
